Wild BillIt is really sad. If you do not mind a road trip the fishing at Point Lookout is on fire. On Tuesday we had steady catching under large herring gulls and gannets. On Tuesday we had steady catching under large herring gulls and gannets. My bud Terry had a monster over 40 pounds. Most fish were in 24"-25" range with some smaller and some larger. When we first go to the fish it was every drop on metal. One bud said it looked like a conveyor belt of fish coming in.Show more3 months ago
Wild BillThere are a number of good charter captains running out of Point Lookout Marina right now. If you need some recommendations PM me. Most of the captains who have survived the striper downturn are pretty talented.3 months ago
240 LTSI have always wanted to go there with all the stories I've heard and read. Just looked it up to leave from Fallston. 123 miles and 2:43 minutes. For a day trip, Leave at 5AM +/-. Arrive 8AM+/-. Fish till 3PM+/-. Be home by 7PM+/-. Sounds doable... I have always wanted to go there with all the stories I've heard and read. Mmmmm as I rub my chin looking at the boat. Just wish my van (tow vehicle) didn't have 185,000 miles on it. :-(Show more3 months ago
Wild BillI did it in my 23 Parker a number of times and had a great time. Almost four hour tow from Lancaster. Multiple days required. It is big water down there and I had to pick my days. It is big water down there and I had to pick my days. Wind direction makes a big difference. South builds up really big. We now fish out of a 46' Markley charter and it is big and comfortable. Have been out in it when so rough the prop lifts out of the water and waves come over the bow. When that happens it is time to go in. Went with Mike Benjamin a number of years ago. He cleaned out the eel tank at the tackle shop and brought them along. We got to the fish and he lowered an eel down and hooked up immediately. It was so rough that the coolers and everything else was flying around the deck of that big boat. The captain decided to go back at that point and that was the only fish caught. When it is right down there, it is the best bay fishing of the year. Headed back on Monday. Stripers like it rough but boats have their limits.Show more3 months ago
