Less wind than predicted. Water clean enough and water temps to 60 deg. When I heard at nine last night that the spawning was in full swing on the Elk, I thought I should go shad or smallie fishing instead but had everything packed and a guy lined up to fish stripers. This was my ninth trip to the flats this spring. The report is real easy. Total skunk. First of the year and hopefully the last. With the full moon Sunday and the spawning activity, it may be a few days before it is good again. Those ladies of the Elk sure do pull the male stripers in. Looking at Tues and Wed to try again. There were very few boats out today. Maybe eight at the most in the entire flats at any given time. You never know it could be good tomorrow. Good luck to all who try.Show more

I went out last evening and fished the Ock for hicks and were it not for a Mud Shad foul hook I too would have gotten skunked. The water was pretty dirty and think that was the problem. With this rain today it's only going to get worse. I think I'll give it a rest until sundayShow more10 months ago
